Targath at her side and Utiss close behind, a hammer rhythmically clanging against metal guided Kilena through the woods. Silence briefly visited between each strike, absent of calling birds or noisy insects. Clouds reigned in the sky above, greyfo and gloomy with the threat of rain. Trees became more sparse the deeper they traveled intoContinue reading “Miss Knight Book 2 – Chapter 3: A Frost Giant’s Friend”

Miss Knight Book 2 – Chapter 2 Escape
All of Warchester rested in a deep slumber, much the same as the last time Kilena confronted Lucy and Sebastion, when she killed their master. She doubled her efforts and quickened her pace, throwing one leg in front of the other. Her armor clanked noisily with every step. She burst out from the dilapidated archway,Continue reading “Miss Knight Book 2 – Chapter 2 Escape”
Miss Knight Book 2 – Chapter 1 -Hunted
“Goodnight, Targath,” Kilena kindly wished him, settling the side of her head on a thin pillow of straw. A scoff replied, and Targath turned over to put his back to her from the other side of the cramped floor.
Kilena fondly smiled, knowing Targath was upset by her tenacity and refusal to sleep on the bed. He insisted she claim the bed for herself to have a better rest. She argued that sleeping on the floor was preferable to the ground. In the end, the bed and its mattress of straw on wooden slats remained empty. That heated disagreement left them both sleeping on the floor almost back to back.
Chapter 11 – Library
Cyrah woke to a sharp knock on a wooden door, eyes popping open wide. She leaped from the small cot at the back of the servant chamber no larger than her cell, though it smelled much nicer. Fixing her hair and wiping the drool from her chin, she hurried to open the door. Without evenContinue reading “Chapter 11 – Library”

One long table made of cherry wood split the majestic room. A generous amount of candles, seated in candelabras, lined the table top presenting a plentiful meal with a set of plates and silverware placed on both ends. After Cyrah’s previous behavior, Nikolis moved straight to his seat. She recognized his lack of chivalry whenContinue reading “Chapter 10 – Fate”

Chapter 8 – The Power of Harmony
A gentle glow snuck in through a slim window at the top of the wall opposite Cyrah’s cramped cell. Her eyes flickered open, surveyed her surroundings. Past night’s events recollected, she nodded off to sleep again. A harsh clang of metal jolted her awake. Her breath came in short gasps, heart pounding rapidly. A groupContinue reading “Chapter 8 – The Power of Harmony”
Chapter 7 – A Brighter Past
Grim decorations lining the castle’s corridors passed by as a shadowy blur in his vague peripheral. Only the peeking pale light of the moon glinting in through tall, tapered windows guided his hooves forward. Every turn, each cracked stone, and the broken step on the second staircase were memorized. The portraits of his mother andContinue reading “Chapter 7 – A Brighter Past”
Chapter 6 – A Life Sentence
Cyrah rested against the vertical bars of her individual cell with her head tilted back, gaze transfixed on the ceiling somewhere up in the pitch darkness. Every breath was shallow, evading the stench surrounding her. She closed her eyes and considered her situation. Home burned to the ground, chased out of her home for decliningContinue reading “Chapter 6 – A Life Sentence”
Chapter 3 – Proposal, Take Two
Knock, knock, knock. Cyrah squeezed a groan inside her throat and closed her eyes, hoping to make the visitor vanish. She needed only one guess as to who stood on the other side of her front door. Leo shouted, “Cyrah? Are you home?” The book in her hands closed with care, and then remained motionless.Continue reading “Chapter 3 – Proposal, Take Two”
